Aarcher Institute’s Environmental Chemistry Training Courses Coming to Puerto Rico

San Juan, Puerto Rico (PRWEB) April 04, 2012
Environmental professionals with a working knowledge of environmental chemistry are better equipped to understand regulatory agency perspectives and address permit conditions, discharge and emissions limitations, hazardous materials and waste storage and management standards, safety requirements, laboratory analytical reports and environmental site assessment results.
Environmental Chemistry, Demystified is a chemistry for non-chemists course. Developed by Dr. Denise Turner, it does not require attendees to have any background in chemistry. Dr. Turner and William Spain have taught this course for nearly 20 years. Drawing on more than 50 years combined field expertise with chemicals, these two instructors provide simple, straightforward explanations of the chemistry behind important environmental topics and the science behind many global environmental problems.
Case studies and real world examples are used throughout the course to make the chemistry of everyday life, both at home and at work, more understandable. Attending this course will improve your ability to comprehend key data found in material safety data sheets, laboratory analytical reports, and environmental assessments.
The Environmental Chemistry Advanced course has been developed for environmental professionals without extensive chemistry education or training and is designed to expand upon the topics and elements addressed in Environmental Chemistry, Demystified. Straightforward, understandable explanations of the chemistry considerations and issues that impact important environmental compliance management considerations are provided. You will gain a new and immediately useful understanding of applied chemistry.
Environmental Chemistry, Demystified and Environmental Chemistry, Advanced are available individually and as a combined offering this May in San Juan, PR. The courses are being held at the Doubletree by Hilton San Juan at Gallery Plaza.
The Instructors:
Dr. Turner has more than 20 years of experience in environmental consulting, training, biomedical product development, and research. Dr. Turners commercial consulting experience includes the development of a national safety program for an international paper company, as well as conducting a complete management/safety audit of a major U.S. nonprofit organization struggling with increased OSHA and FDA regulation.
William Spain has more than 35 years experience consulting, teaching, publishing, research, regulatory compliance, and technical management in occupational health and environmental science. He has worked for large corporations, the Federal Government, an engineering university, a national consulting/analytical/training corporation, and now a state government. This experience helps Mr. Spain understand and share the technical and other aspects of these professional fields from many different points of view.

Shadowy Images in Puerto Vallarta
Most of us at some time in our youth or childhood have experienced that “ah-ha” moment that follows the successful creation of a shadow puppet or silhouette image. We position the lamp just right to cast a shadow and work the image – a flying bat, Grandpa’s impressive beak, the voluptuous curves of our heart’s desire (that ’57 Chevy was a beauty). Heck, you may find you can create some bizarre and fantastic creatures in the soft glow of the hot tub at your Mexico vacation villa rental .And you can appreciate the fleeting results of this art form all over Puerto Vallarta. The fact that the resort city sits on the shores of Banderas Bay can only be newsworthy to those who arrived in town with their eyes tightly shut in the middle of a totally dark night. What may be less apparent, at least until the sun sets behind the bay and the sky becomes an awesome Impressionistic palette of red and pink and orange, is the city’s impressive gallery of naturally-occurring silhouettes.
You can prove this to yourself when you step onto the balcony of your Mexico vacation villa rental and look in a generally westerly direction.
They’re everywhere . . .
The remaining light from the sun creates a colorful backdrop for silhouette hunters. Depending on where you’re situated in the evening, you’re likely to see all manner of beautiful images. For instance, if you’re near the Malecón at sunset, see if you can’t walk yourself into a place that reveals the interesting shadow images of the boardwalk’s sculpture collection.
Fully exposed in the bright light of day, these pieces are beautiful; at dusk, they become almost otherworldly. Palm trees are another wonderful silhouette subject. There’s a bit of a yin and yang element to this image: during the daytime, find a palm that’s casting a pleasant shadow on the sand and cool off in the shade; in the twilight, appreciate the tree’s dramatic image against the warm colors of the evening sky. Two shadowy images with totally different applications.
Banderas Bay is teeming with floating, drifting and sailing things that can provide boatloads of beautiful visions if you pay attention. Take the pirate ship, for instance. During the day, it’s a party barge like none other; as the sun sets, it loses its face; all that remains is an image of tall sails and hull, making you wonder if they’re friend or foe.
