The best and worst airports in which to be stranded

If being stranded by unexpected delays is going to happen anywhere in the world, then the best place for it is Singapore’s Changi airport according to a recent survey. A huge 32% of the 1,000 IAPA members surveyed said it was by far the best airport for delayed passengers.
Other favourites were Amsterdam Schiphol, Hong Kong International and Dubai International. London Heathrow, however, found itself topping both the best and worst lists as the most popular choice as the worlds worst airport in which to be stranded. Other undesirable airports were Paris CDG, Miami International, New York JFK and Mumbai International.
Poor facilities and services was a top frustration of being stranded, with 21% of responders citing this as their top annoyance. And it was Singapore’s opportunities for entertainment during an unexpected stopover that made it stand out as an airport not to get bored in.
Some of those surveyed managed to spend their stranded time in the comfort of a VIP airport lounge, something which really comes into its own during stopovers – especially when hordes of passengers are crowding the terminal due to delays.

“Best” Overseas Property Portals Revealed by New Study

A new study published today examines the “best” overseas property portals for real estate agents and developers selling international property to UK buyers. The research focuses on the natural search rankings of nearly 50 property portals on Google (UK) and ranks each one by the frequency with which they appear in the search results for popular search phrases used by buyers of overseas property.
A new study published today by independent trade website, Globaledge.co.uk reveals the best-optimised overseas property portals on Google (UK). The research undertaken in December 2007 examines the natural search positions of 46 property portals on Google (UK) for property-related search phrases in over 200 overseas buying destinations.
FindaProperty.com is top of the list, appearing in the top 20 in 68% of all searches, with Primelocation.com a close second. The Move Channel is next and is one of three performance-based portals in the Top 10, which also includes Lead Galaxy in fourth and Sunshine Estates in fifth.
Ashley Rigg, director of Globaledge.co.uk says, “We put together this study to provide real estate agents and developers with an overview of the overseas property portal market. 2008 will be a tough year for many international agents. Estate agent marketing will be more important than in previous years as there are likely to be less buyers around. The research should help real estate companies targeting the UK choose better marketing partners.”
The research however is not without its problems. It takes no account of paid search spend, which can drive significant volumes of traffic to portals. It also ignores the influence of brand awareness and direct traffic and how web design and content can influence lead generation.
Countering the criticisms, Ashley says, “Natural search rankings are one of several important factors agents should consider, but in our opinion it’s the most important. Natural search listings tend to get more clicks than paid listings and do not disappear when budgets run out. We’ve also written nearly 50 independent portal profiles which evaluate each portal on a much wider set of criteria to help agents see the bigger picture.”

Reverend Zen Returns to Hollywood As 2008 Los Angeles Music Awards’ Best Song Nominee

New York’s award winning rock/jazz/blues group Reverend Zen will be returning to Hollywood November 20 as a 2008 Los Angeles Music Awards’ Best Song Nominee. “Her Love”, the band’s ballad of a woman’s emotional damage, has just been named a nominee in the AAA Category of this year’s awards. The nomination marks the second consecutive year that Reverend Zen has been honored by LAMA.
The Los Angeles Music Awards, called the longest running red carpet event for independent musicians in the world, has an eighteen-year history dating back to 1991. Past performers, presenters and nominees have included Toto, Paula Abdul, Tower of Power, Jackson Browne, Dream Theater, Billy Preston, System of A Down, Slash, Robben Ford and No Doubt. For the first time since their inception, the 2008 LA Music Awards will be combined with the 2008 Hollywood F.A.M.E. Awards. This year’s ceremony will not only honor independent music, but will also salute dignitaries from the motion picture industry, television and art world at the event.

Reverend Zen’s 2008 nomination from LAMA comes on the heels of the band’s four Best Song Nominations in the Adult Contemporary Artist and Blues Category of the 2007 Los Angeles Music Awards for “Bad Attitude”, “Don’t Try to Tell Me”, “Dangerous Times” and “The Boston Shakedown”. The genre stretching group was subsequently named LAMA’s 2007 Blues Artist of the Year with “Bad Attitude” named 2007 Blues Song of the Year.
Earlier this year, in addition to receiving five Finalist Awards, Reverend Zen’s “The Boston Shakedown” was named 2007/08 Blues/Rock Song of the Year by ABC Radio Networks Fame Games Effigy Awards in Malaga, Spain. That was followed with “Dangerous Times” named a Finalist in France’s 2008 100% Song Contest in Paris with “Bad Attitude” and “The Boston Shakedown” named Semi Finalists. Summer 2008 brought the band three Semi Finalist Awards from the BBC sponsored 2008 UK Song Contest in London for “Her Love”, “Bad Attitude” and Dangerous Times”, as well as a Semi Finalist Award for “Bad Attitude” from the 2008 Australia Song Contest in Sydney. This year has also seen Reverend Zen bandleader and songwriter Jack Evans named the recipient of a prestigious 2008 ASCAP Plus Award in New York.
In 2007, Reverend Zen’s “Magdalena” and “Bad Attitude” received Finalist Awards from the 2007 Unisong International Song Contest in Los Angeles, as Mr. Evans received his first ASCAP Plus Award. The group concluded the year being named 2007 Artist of the Year by WCH Radio in St. Louis. Two thousand six saw Reverend Zen’s “Dangerous Times” named a Finalist in the 2006 VH1 Song of the Year Contest in Houston, with the band receiving five Runner Up Awards for “Magdalena”, “Bad Attitude”, “Don’t Try to Tell Me”, “The Boston Shakedown” and “Fingerprints”. The year also brought the group RGW Radio’s 2006 Bronze Artist Award in Norfolk, UK. To date Mr. Evans and Reverend Zen has received forty-three music industry awards from around the globe.
